SETI - Search for Extraterrestrial
Life and Intelligence
- SETI Institute The home for scientific
research in the general field of Life in the Universe with an emphasis on the
Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).
Solar System
- Earth and
Moon Viewer Unique virtual views of both the earth and the moon from
space. Site navigation may be a bit of a chore at first. Hang in there!
- Astronomy 161:
The Solar System A comprehensive course in solar system astronomy. Excellent.
- Nine
Planets [The]: A Multimedia Tour of the Solar System Tremendous site!
Complete.
- NASA's Planetary
Photojournal Super!
- Pioneer
Project Home Page Communication with Pioneer 10 concluded at the end
of March, 1997. The craft is about the same distance from earth, as the
two Voyagers are [see: below]!
-
Planets Visible This Month, [The] Concise. Useful.
- Solar
System Live An interactive site that gives up-to-the-minute relative
positions of the planets! Fairly technical! Lots of numbers.
- Solar System Simulator A NASA/JPL/Caltech
spyglass on the cosmos. A mixture of space-related images and programs to help you
visualize the Solar System, and NASA space missions, using computer graphics. Want to
see what Jupiter looks like from its moon Io, or maybe from its neighbour Saturn,
at this very moment, or maybe three months ago? How about a closeup of the surface of
the Martian moon Phobos? No problem. Totally awesome!
- Views
of the Solar System Awesome photographs; excellent documentation.
- Voyager
Project Information As of Dec. 12, 1997, Voyager 1 and 2 were 10.41 and
8.13 BILLION kilometres from Earth, respectively; and both were STILL returning
data!
- Welcome to the Planets
Profiles of the planets, as well as many of NASA's spacecraft. Super site.
From NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
